What is a Ketamine Nasal Spray?

Spravato is an esketamine nasal spray that can alleviate the symptoms of treatment-resistant depression. Ketamine is a chemical which consists of two mirror-image molecules, S-ketamine and R-ketamine. When used as an anesthetic or in an intravenous infusion, both the S and R molecules are included. However, Spravato only uses the S molecule.

What should I expect during Ketamine Nasal Spray?

Bespoke Treatment offers Spravato as an in-office treatment. However, before starting any treatment, we conduct a comprehensive evaluation to ensure that this is the best possible option for you. Spravato will be prescribed in one of two dosages: 56 mg, or 84 mg. We assist in the administration of the nasal spray.

Esketamine can trigger some initial and short-lived side effects such as dizziness, floating sensations, or mild hallucinations. You rest comfortably at Bespoke Treatment under the supervision of a member of the clinical team for approximately two hours. When your provider releases you, you will need a friend or family member to drive you home. You may be tired for the rest of the day, but any fatigue will pass by the time you wake up the next morning.

Your provider at Bespoke Treatment creates a customized treatment plan to address your specific needs. Most patients begin with two Spravato treatments a week for the first month, followed by once a week treatments in the second month. After the second month of treatment, patients typically have a Spravato treatment once a week or once every two weeks, depending on their needs. The first treatment is always 56 mg.

Am I a good candidate for
Ketamine Nasal Spray?

Spravato might be a good treatment option for you if conventional treatments for depression haven’t relieved your symptoms, and you are in good physical health. If you have a history of substance abuse, your provider may recommend an alternative such as Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS).
